How To “Summer-ize” Your ColorPro Poster Maker
How To “Summer-ize” Your ColorPro Poster Maker
As the school year officially ends, and only a skeleton crew remains in your building, it is important to follow the proper procedures to “Summer-ize” your Poster Maker for the Summer Break. While the procedure is very simple, it is quite important, in order to ensure that the print head in your ColorPro Poster Maker (or any poster maker, for that matter) lasts as long as it possibly can!
And when I say that the procedure is EASY… I mean it!! ?
The first action is to make sure that your ColorPro remains turned ON all summer long! Don’t unplug it or turn it off!!!
The second action is to simply print a poster once a month during the summer. That’s it!
Leave The ColorPro turned on, and print a poster each month… talk about simple!
Why is it so important to do this? Well, ALL large-format poster makers (regardless of manufacturer) use a thick, liquid ink. Over long periods of non-use, the ink can start to “gell,” or coagulate (much like our blood does if we get a cut). When this happens, the nozzles and ink lines of the printer can get clogged (each nozzle is actually smaller than the tip of a pin). Since the nozzles are so small, they are hard to clean externally, so the best “medicine” is to avoid the issue in the first place.
The ColorPro and ColorPro ULTRA actually have internal mechanisms to help protect your print head from this happening. Internal timers are constantly “counting down,” and every time they reach zero, the ColorPro poster maker actually does something to itself to help prevent problems from ever developing in the first place! For example, one time when the timer reaches zero, the ColorPro will clean the print head for you – automatically. The next time the timer reaches zero, it will “agitate the ink” cartridges – a fancy way of saying that it “stirs” the ink cartridges to keep your ink mixed properly. The ColorPro and ColorPro ULTRA poster maker do all of these things for you automatically – UNLESS the poster maker is turned off! If it is turned off, then none of these safeguards will be functional. That is why it is so important to leave your poster maker turned on – always and forever. For those who are wisely energy-conscious, both the ColorPro and the ColorPro ULTRA poster maker are “Energy Star Rated” – this means that the systems use negligible amounts of electricity, even when they are left on 24/7.
Finally, it is important to make at least one poster per month to keep ink flowing through the ink lines which connect the ink cartridges to the print head. Think of it like an oil change – every time you print a poster, it flushes ink through the system, and flushes away any ink that may be starting to gell. So, you are essentially “changing the oil” every time you print a poster!
As mentioned earlier, that’s it… keep your ColorPro poster maker turned ON, and print one poster per month! It doesn’t get much easier than that! Doing these very simple steps will help to ensure that your print head lasts for a number of years!
